Survey | Academy Awards 2018 Prediction Contest
By Mikaly Czap
Star Status conducted a "Prediction Poll" for the winners of the major categories in the 90th annual Academy Awards. English Teacher Ms. Tiffany Wilkes (left) and senior Beatrice Boyce (right) tied for first place in the contest, picking 82% of the categories correctly.
Ms. Wilkes reacts to her victory: "I didn't prepare a speech because I never thought that I would actually win! I'd like to thank the Academy and I also have to thank my subscription to Star Magazine and all its knowledge about the world of movies. I am just so grateful for this esteemed recognition!"
Beatrice said, "I enjoy watching movies and credit my knowledge of film to my Telecommunications class at Nottingham. We discuss movies and how to make videos. We are currently working on a teaser trailer project. I love that class!"
According to the contest, "Actress in a Supporting Role" was the easiest category to predict, with nearly half of the respondents correctly picking Allison Janney to win in this category. Only one person correctly predicted the winner (Roger Deakins, Blade Runner 2019) for "Cinematography," everyone else picked a loser.
