Senior Spotlight: Cheri Kargbo
By Fedjine Victor
From her culture to her courage and compassion, Cheri Kargbo is not an ordinary senior.
After high school, Cheri wants to go to college, get a degree, and work in a job that makes her question how she much more she could love life. As a child, Cheri knew she wanted to become a pediatrician. Her love for children and versatility with them baffles most. With Liberian blood pumping through her veins, Cheri embraces her culture. Her family is huge and always supportive; she loves them to death. Although she lives with only her mom and stepdad, Cheri is captivated by the amount of love she receives in her tight knit immediate family. When asked about her philosophy on life, Cheri stated, “ I believe that you can do anything that you put your mind to. Although obstacles may come up, never allow anything to deter you from reaching your goals.” Cheri is motivated by HERSELF! She passionately states, “I feel like I motivate myself. Sometimes it's hard, but I know where I want to go and I know what my goals are. So, it's my job to make sure I get there.” In describing Cheri, Ms. Trish Tammaro, step team advisor, states, “Cheri is hilarious - which is something I don't think her teachers know about her. In class, she is focused and quiet, but in step, she's always goofy, always making people laugh, and being over the top. She's also dedicated; when she wants something, she goes after it.” Cheri thinks people would describe her as outgoing, “boujee,” goofy, hard working, determined, kind, and creative. Cheri love's spaghetti; she even has her own sweet, special recipe, and I am a witness to that. With Takers at the top of her movie list, Cheri loves activity and spontaneity; maybe that's why her favorite hobby is sleeping? She enjoys Snapchat and thinks March is the best month of the year (hint: it is her birthday month). Cheri must know herself pretty well because Ms. Marissa Santiago, the librarian, practically matched Ms. T’s description to a "T." She states, “I Love Cheri! She is such a special student. She is respectful, kind, hardworking, polite, sweet, and very intelligent. If I could adopt her, I would. She's like the daughter I never had. She is very special to me.” Cheri is a big fan of Criminal Minds and her favorite candy is Mike & Ike's. Cheri’s favorite high school memory is her entire freshman year. Whether it's through making people laugh or working hard on her assignments, Cheri is an important part of the Northstar community. Her passionate and caring nature floods the halls of Nottingham High School. |
