Senior Spotlight: Ridge Pierre
By Franklin Sanchez
Ridge Pierre is one of the many seniors whose talent and skill will give them a bright future both academically and athletically. His modest and humble character compliment the many qualities that make him a fine young man and a pleasure to know.
If you've ever attended a Nottingham football game, you would have witnessed first hand what number 90 has to offer. As a three-year varsity starter, he showcased his ability to wreck havoc across any offense he faced.Despite suffering an injury during his junior year, he managed to come back stronger and still have a successful season. Ridge is more than just a great athlete: he shows what it means to be a true Northstar. According to Guidance Counselor Ms. Ann Schiavoni, “He holds himself to a higher standard and leads with a quiet strength. He demonstrates commitment, passion, dedication and perseverance to achieving his goals in school and in life." Ridge's grades show his ability to succeed in an academic setting and reflect his willingness to learn. Ridge takes time every day to learn from people, experiences, and life that will make him a better and more positive person. “The success he has already met is not even comparable to the success that lies ahead!” said Vice Principal Mrs. Dawn White. Ridge continues to find other ways to shine than just football and his academics. He is also involved in Winter/Spring Track as one of the top throwers in shot put and javelin. As a self-taught piano player, there is no limit to what he can achieve. “Ridge Pierre is a living example of the old adage: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all," said Ms. Schiavoni. "Ridge is always willing to listen to others and support them through a difficult time. He is never willing to say anything mean or cruel and is always ready to stand up for what's right, even if it's difficult to do. He is one of the most positive influences I know." Ridge is not only athletic, but he also has an "artsy" side as well. He enjoys playing piano, is involved in the school play and likes to draw and write poems. Ridge is a big fan of video games, especially sports games and anime games. He was also recently honored by The Trentonian as Nottingham's representative for "Athletic Achievement." |
