Ms. McDermott is a teacher here at Nottingham. She teaches B level World History and Honors World History. She has worked here for five years, four of those years she has helped with the stage crew, and continues to do so. Ms. McDermott not only teaches history, but is also an advisor for the Nottingham Dance Team and even went to Nottingham! She graduated from Monmouth University, and worked here straight out of college. Star Status spoke with Ms. McDermott and here are her answers:
STAR STATUS: How long have you been working here at Nottingham? MS. MCDERMOTT: I am currently in my 5th year teaching at Nottingham. STAR STATUS: Do you plan on being a teacher for the rest of your career, if not what do you want to do? MS. MCDERMOTT: I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Right now I do not see myself doing any other career. I love the school, community, and I especially love seeing what students go on after you have taught them. STAR STATUS: What is your all time favorite unit to teach? MS. MCDERMOTT: I enjoy teaching many of the units in World History! It is difficult to narrow it down to one, but I always have the most fun teaching about the period of monarchies and revolutions. STAR STATUS: What is your favorite piece of art? MS. MCDERMOTT: It’s a classic, but the Mona Lisa- mostly because of the mysteries that surround it. STAR STATUS: What is your favorite hobby outside of school? MS MCDERMOTT: Outside of the classroom I am the Dance Team advisor and stage manager for the school musical. I have always loved theater, and I try to go see shows whenever I can. I am so happy that the theater is opening up again! I also love to read when I have the time. |
