The Return of Sports
by Sahara Lockhart
Before COVID-19 came around, sports were great. We loved watching people play and celebrated it at times, even. I think the players loved to play it, but then in January 2020, there was a report of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus. It was first identified in Wuhan, China.
The World Health Organization declared that it was a pandemic. Sports have been affected at international levels, with the rest important events all scheduled for Summer 2020. The disease is affecting the entire population in different proportions, and it is estimated that the total number of global cases is over 40 million. Due to COVID-19, the athletes are not considered in a high-risk group of the population that can affect the event of infecting both their health and performance.
But in general, professional athletes are younger and the rest of the population will have a lower risk of attracting COVID-19. However, they are a part of sports that may happen outside and with people that have no distance with each other in ways that could lead up to the bad health they may get in COVID.
Most of the sports teams think that playing a game at a time like this would be bad for them and what if they caught it from some other players some of the most famous football, soccer, tennis, etc., players can get in a hard stand to what they may come to in the time we are in now. It is unaware how long we have, but we must live our lives at what we do best and I think if they want to, they can but should just be very careful in the surrounding with them and others.
