Eighteen-year-old video editor, trumpeter, and video game fanatic, Jesus Peralta shines as bright as a Northstar possibly could. Being the middle child in his family, he acts as a role model for his 8-year-old sister and lifelong friend for his 27-year-old sister. Interestingly enough, his favorite color is cyan, and he enjoys numerous genres of music ranging from upbeat Japanese pop to classical opera. Throughout his career at Nottingham, he has been nothing short of hardworking, kind, enthusiastic, and most importantly, unique.
As his four years flew by, Jesus, or Jessie, as his friends call him, developed a passion for music, anime, video games, and video editing. Rather than simply juggling all his talents at once, Jessie found a way to channel his creative energy into popular installments of “The NHS Marching Band Anime,” or anime parodies in which he edits Nottingham’s marching band members onto the anime characters themselves. His ability to combine his favorite talents not only keeps Jessie occupied, but it also sparks interest in those around him. His enthusiasm can easily be interpreted as infectious! Mrs. Jen Klek, the Marching Unit Director, describes Jessie as “a student who works hard to achieve his goals. He never complains, never asks for a break, just works through anything. He loves to entertain us with his series of anime that he created for fun that features the members of the Marching Unit. He makes the class more fun for the teachers and the students around him.” Though his creative attributes seem to point him in a more musical or artistic direction, Jessie claims he actually aspires to become a forensic scientist. He plans on attending Mercer County Community College to obtain his associate's degree, and in ten years, he sees himself working in his field and living in an apartment with a pet turtle (his favorite animal) and girlfriend, Wendi. To maintain his positivity while chasing his dreams and obtaining his goals, Jessie withholds an optimistic view on life. His philosophy is, “No one said life is supposed to be easy. There will be hard times. There will be horrible things, and there will be self doubt, but for every bad thing, there’s a good thing. It’s like cooking. Life gives you the ingredients, but you have to make the dish. Anybody can cook chicken. It’s great depending on how you season it.” Motivated by his friends and family, Jessie will continue to pursue his dreams as well as inspire and entertain those around him. He overcomes all obstacles and wears his individuality proudly regardless of what anyone may say or think. His thoughtfulness and positivity radiates from within and shines brightly into others’ lives. His enthusiastic creativity, work ethic, and dauntlessness make him not only a fascinating person, but a bright Northstar! |
