Girls Tennis 2020-21
by Zobia Chaudhry
On October 20th, the Nottingham Girls tennis team played Ewing at Veteran’s Park. It would be the last game of the season, and they wanted to go out with a BANG! Ewing and Nottingham were neck to neck, with games lasting more than two hours. All the players were facing tough opponents. Tennis can last longer than most sports which means that you have to have very high endurance.
Many of the games ended with the scores tying. For example, one of the Varsity players, Senior Muskan Patel, went to three sets, and had to play a tiebreaker of ten points. Her first set was 2-6, her second set was 6-0, and her tiebreaker was 10-2.
Another Varsity match that went really long was for Junior Imelda Soto. She played two, extremely long sets with a score of 6-3 for the first set and 6-4 for the second set. There were many matches like those mentioned, but in the end Nottingham pushed through and won with a score of 4-1, winning the overall meet. The match was intense, and had you been there, you would see how hard it really was. It was a good way to end the season for the Girls Tennis Team.
The good thing about sports is that you build an everlasting bond with your teammates. It’s one of the great rewards of playing a sport. So if you want to join a sport, but you're not sure which one to join, choose tennis. There’s a boys and girls team for Nottingham. No experience is needed. I guarantee that you will love it! Go northstars!
