Rock of Ages

Nottingham High School held its annual school musical on May 20 - 22, 2021. This year the musical they presented was Rock of Ages, a drama that feature 1980's rock music. Under the assistance from the staff members, including Ms. Lauren Flaherty, Ms. Hall, Mrs. Klek, Ms. Trish Tammaro, Mr. Gary Meinhardt, and Ms. Megan McDermott, the cast and crew pulled together a full-length musical in under two months.
Rock of Ages is about Drew Boley, a barback at Dupree’s Bourbon Room who dreams of being a rockstar, and Sherrie, a girl who finds herself at the Sunset Strip trying to become an actress. At the same time, the Sunset Strip is under threat from Germans who strive to create a town that exemplifies clean, pure, efficient living. Throughout the show there are protests, drama, and, of course, rock songs. Overall, the show was successful. Even though it was not like the previous years’ shows it still managed to sell out for three out of the four total performances. Instead of being presented in Nottingham’s auditorium, the show was performed outside on Nottingham’s football field. Certainly this year was different for the school play, but overall it was still a very successful show. |
