As most of you are aware, Nottingham has welcomed a new Vice Principal who many say resembles the rapper 'Future.' However, our new Vice Principal is Hamilton Township's own Mr. Dwayne Walker. Recently, we interviewed Mr. Walker so the students of Nottingham can get to know him better.
Growing up, Mr. Walker attended school in Hamilton; he went to Wilson Elementary School, Grice Middle School, and Hamilton West High School. After high school, he attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, and then went to the University of Wilmington for his graduate degree. Mr. Walker was a teacher for ten years before becoming an administrator. He taught in Trenton and Atlanta, among many other places. He taught at the elementary school level, administered at the middle school level at Grice, and decided to give this high school position a try to complete his entire K-12 experience. When asked his opinion about working at Nottingham, Mr. Walker replied that he likes it, and that the students and staff have been warm, friendly, and welcoming. Although a little nervous coming in, Mr. Walker says he enjoys it. We asked him what the transition from middle school to high school was like. He replied that in middle school students still have a couple of years until they're out in the real world, but right after high school is the real world. Mr. Walker's advice for high school students is to "work hard and get involved." He feels that students aren't fully taking advantage of opportunities and they're letting them slip through their fingers. From everyone at Nottingham, we would like to extend a warm welcome to Mr. Walker as our Vice Principal. |
