Spirit Week at Nottingham is a time when the school comes together to show our Northstar Pride. This year, the Winter Spirit Week consisted of three wacky days: character day, holiday spirit day, and class color day. There is nothing like walking through the halls on your way to class and witnessing classic characters such as Spongebob Squarepants, an M&M, the Joker, or maybe even Rudolph there to make your day oh so bright.
On the final day of Spirit Week, there was a pep rally where winter sport athletes and their coaches get recognized for the hard work and achievements they have made throughout the present and previous seasons. This year there was a change to the Nottingham winter pep rally: instead of the famed basketball game that is usually played, this year marked the first-ever handball match. Juniors and seniors took to the court in an effort to defend their class’ reputation. Nottingham certainly knows how to do a pep rally right from start to finish; there is always something exciting going on. At the end of the exhilarating handball match, there was a pie eating contest that was both intense and fun for all watching or participating in it. Selma Cheeks won the pie eating contest for the 9th/10th grade pep rally and Jason Rodriguez won for the 11th/12th grade pep rally. No matter what, there was never a dull moment during the pep rally because the marching unit's pep band kept the mood upbeat and amusing with some classic tunes. However, the band was not the only form of live entertainment. The step team, dance team, and cheerleaders all did their parts to keep the crowd completely absorbed from start to finish. The Powder Puff cheerleaders' performance also amused the crowd. All in all, spirit week is not only a time to show school pride, but it’s a time to have fun, dress up, and make memories that will last a lifetime! . |
