Northstar Ballers Win Sectional Title

The Nottingham High School boys’ basketball team won their 2nd sectional title in school history against the number 1 seed in Central Jersey and the 18th-ranked team in the state, Ewing High School, on February 27. Senior Joe Lemly says his favorite memory from this season is “winning the sectional championship because we were underdogs every single game throughout the year.”
In the state semi-finals, they upset the 19th-ranked Moorestown High School team 56 - 49 at Toms River High School and then went on to play Ramapo High School at Rutgers in the New Jersey state final. They played hard and made history at Nottingham’s 2nd boy’s basketball state final in five years, but lost to the 6th-ranked Gryphons 55 - 42 . Junior Jordan Raba says his favorite memory from this entire season was “bringing the whole school together [and having them] root for us.”
The Northstars received numerous individual awards for their performances this season. Senior J.P. Dickerson was named 1st team All State, 1st team All-County, and also was the Mercer County co-player of the year. Dickerson scored a total of 520 points and made 95 steals this season. Coach Chris Raba was also recognized as “Coach of the Year” for the 8th time.
Junior Dom Raymond was named 2nd team All-County and had 233 rebounds this season. Senior TJ Keese was also named 2nd team All-County and senior Joe Lemly was named 3rd team All-County with a total of 59 three pointers this season. Junior Donte Alexander was a honorable mention All-County with 54 three point field goals made this season. Jordan Raba and MVP J.P. Dickerson were named to the All Tournament Team and the ‘Stars were champions of the Pittman High School Christmas Tournament.
