Nottingham’s Marching Unit at the Walk4Hearing
by Eliza Kramer
On the cloudy morning of Sunday October 10, 2021, members from Nottingham’s Marching Unit gathered in the West Picnic Area of Mercer County Park to help with an event called the Walk4Hearing. The Walk4Hearing is an event which raises funds, increases awareness, and celebrates those that are hard of hearing. The Nottingham Marching Unit was asked by drum major Evan Vistoso if some people can come and help set up, play the Star Spangled Banner, and participate in the walk.
Before the event, the band members helped prepare tables in the childrens activities area. Afterwards, the band did a quick warm up run of the Star Spangled Banner with a guest vocalist, Gabby Vistoso. The band kicked off the event by performing the Star Spangled Banner. After packing away the instruments, the band joined the participants on the walk.
It was a great gesture of the band members to support the drum major in the Walk4Hearing.
